Join the Alias Trio for an interactive musical performance of the wonderful fairy-tale story, The King, The Cat and The Fiddle. The story tells the tale of a happy, hapless King, who had too many accountants and not enough money, and whose Chief Accountant decides that to save the kingdom the King must fire his beloved fiddlers! A tragedy in a kingdom where music is happiness and happiness is music. But can Joachim the Cat save the day by teaching the King to play the fiddle and restore music and happiness to the kingdom?

Providing a lively and engaging experience combining traditional folk music with plenty of audience participation, The King, The Cat and The Fiddle is the perfect way for families to spend a summer’s morning.

The King, The Cat and The Fiddle is based on a children’s book written by Live Music Now founder and one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century, Yehudi Menuhin (who performed at our Festival in 1987 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and in 1988 with the English String Orchestra!), alongside author Christopher Hope, with illustrations by Angela Barrett.

This commission was part of Live Music Now’s 2016 Menuhin Centenary celebrations, funded with the support of Art Council Wales. The music was originally composed by LMN Wales ensemble Calan and has been adapted for this performance by Alias Trio.
