Savitri Grier recently made her debut at Carnegie’s Weill Hall and has also appeared as a soloist with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and English Chamber Orchestra as well as having given recital performances across the UK and Europe. Savitri is also a keen chamber musician and she has collaborated with renowned artists including Steven Isserlis and Andrew Marriner and she also performs regularly with the Grier Trio.
Accompanied by pianist Richard Uttley, Savitri Grier will perform Mozart’s Violin Sonata No. 32 which was composed in 1784 and was first performed by the virtuoso Regina Strinasacchi, with Mozart himself at the piano. They will also perform George Enescu’s Violin Sonata No. 3. The composer borrowed Gypsy violin techniques to create the themes for his third violin sonata and the piece features techniques and ornamentation used by Gypsy musicians.
