His career has spanned the worlds of books, newspapers, television, business, politics, theology, and charity. However, it was his time spent in prison for perjury that ended the former Tory cabinet minister’s political career, but became the making of him as a human being. Jonathan Aitken has become a prisoner of hope – a Fellow of The Centre for Social Justice and Honorary President of Tempus Novo, a charity set up to aid released prisoners to find work.

Prison rioting and disturbances are increasingly frequent. Levels of violence and self-harm are the highest they’ve been in decades. Jonathan will share his experience of his time in prison and will invite to the stage HMP Leeds prison officers Steve Freer and Val Wawrosz. It promises a rare insight on life behind bars.

Chaired by Sir James Aykroyd, Vice President of Tempus Novo.
