A firm Festival favourite and one of Yorkshire’s most-loved performers, Clare is one of the most successful female British jazz singers in decades with a string of albums behind her. Growing up 15 minutes away from Harrogate, Clare used to visit the “posh town with the posh tea room” as a child. She grew up to present BBC Radio 2′s Big Band Special and to have her own Radio 2 show. A regular columnist in the Yorkshire Post, she famously landed a multi-million pound contract with Sony records – something virtually unheard of for a jazz musician outside the Radio 1 demographic. Counting Michael Parkinson as a fan, she’s worked with jazz legends and stars from Cleo Lane to Jamie Cullum.
Teal, from Yorkshire, has a very assured and witty stage presence and patter to go with some deft and swinging vocals.
