March’s Book of the Month – The Killing Floor by Lee Child

The One Man Crime Wave: Lee Child

March is a wonderful month – the crocuses are out, the daffodils are almost there and the sun is finally shining! What’s more March is the month to celebrate books, kicked off quite splendidly by the inaugural World Book Night. A million books were sent out into the world, and representing the best of crime fiction was the monolithic Lee Child. So March’s Book of the Month is, in honour of World Book Night, the Killing Floor. If you received a free copy of the first book in the internationally popular Jack Reacher series, we’d love to hear your reviews. Please send them in to You’re Booked!

Reacher , the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode: a righter of wrongs, with just one pair of pants and a toothbrush, is the perfect action hero. In the Killing Floor, Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. As you do. But it’s a decision he’s about to regret. The only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in thirty years, Reacher is prime suspect numbero uno. The cops arrest Reacher and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out, and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure:  they picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

Lee Child is one of the world’s most successful thriller writers, reaching the No. 1 spot in bestseller lists around the world. When he was picked for World Book Night, Child said: “Reading is still alive – in better health than ever, actually – and World Book Night proves it. To be included as one of the 25 titles is a real thrill.”
