Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
I have bookcases all over my flat – in the living-room, in the bedrooms, in the kitchen. Piles of books on the floor, even more hidden away in cupboards, due to lack of space.
What kind of books will definitely not be found in your bookcase?
I’ve never been into sci-fi, which is odd, because I enjoy watching science fiction movies. I’ve always liked books … Read More >>

Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
I have a few, but the main one is in my office. I had it made and it fills one wall from the floor to the ceiling. I’ve only been in my flat a year and it’s already full. I’m going to have start keeping them in the kitchen cupboards now.

I read … Read More >>

Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
Living in a less-than-spacious cottage books converge in every available recess, on any surface. I made the shelves pictured from some old stairs and so far they’re not crashed to the floor. Most rooms have a bookcase or two in them, leaving little room for guests.
What kind of books will definitely not be found in your bookcase?
Whereas I like to keep an open … Read More >>

Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
The main one for fiction is in the sitting room and was made by a carpenter in my local town here in Portugal. It took him a long time to get started on it (like 6 months) but I persuade myself that it was worth the wait. It is made out of mahogany so it’s not going anywhere fast, but is already overflowing. The top … Read More >>

Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
We moved to an old Edwardian house about six months ago and were able to dedicate one room to books, though it’s also a playroom for our little girl. My wife is a librarian, and a book fanatic, so we have a lot of books to store. The room is lined with bookcases, but there’s a giant that’s three bookcases bolted together. It takes up … Read More >>

First, a word about the shelves of books you can see in this picture. You’ll have spotted that the books are all arranged by colour. It’s something my wife decided to try. Pretty, right? But it also drives me a little crazy. Just recently, beardy crime writer Stuart MacBride was in my attic (I had to release him before I transformed into Annie Wilkes) and I’m fairly sure he thought this shelving system was grounds for … Read More >>

Tim Weaver is the Sunday Times bestselling author of Chasing The Dead and its critically acclaimed follow-up The Dead Tracks. His third novel, Vanished, is out summer 2012. All his books feature missing persons investigator David Raker.
December sees ‘Author’s Bookshelf’ take a look at the books close to Tim Weaver’s heart.

Narrowing down all the books I’ve loved over the years into anything approaching a manageable list is simply too hard, so I’ve instead concentrated on a few that, for various … Read More >>

Ever wondered what your favourite authors are reading? This week, we find out what Ann Cleeves has on her bookshelf!
Where’s your bookcase located and what does it look like?
There are bookcases all over the house, but this one is in my kitchen. There are two sets of shelves built on either side of the chimney breast and the light comes in through the glass doors into the garden. Underneath the shelves are the toys and books belonging … Read More >>

This month, ’Author’s Bookshelf’ takes a look at the books close to S. J. Bolton’s heart.
What author have you discovered and loved recently?
Lisa Gardner, the (understandably) best-selling US writer. I met her at the Theakston’s Crime Festival at Harrogate this year and enjoyed her company very much. Her books (unlike their creator) are creepy, compelling and very scary.
Is there an author who is your guilty pleasure (or any book you’d rather have a brown paper bag … Read More >>

Leigh Russell has kindly agreed to give us a sneak peek into the books that, now very tidily, line her shelves. So, Leigh, it’s over to you…
For someone who spends so much time making up stories I’m a terrible liar, so I’ll come clean straight away and admit the bookshelf in this photo was tidied before the picture was taken. The rest of my bookshelves are an eclectic jumble of literature spanning the centuries, … Read More >>

Lee Weeks is the author of The Trophy Taker, The Trafficked, Death Trip and Kiss & Die. Her writing is a reflection of her real life adventures. As Lee has said, “I bought a one way ticket to Hong Kong and spent a year getting into even more trouble than usual. But the point of the trouble was to write about it.”
You can read about her extraordinary life in the You’re Booked interview or … Read More >>
