As cold wars simmer and real wars burn, as political truths have become stranger than political fiction, the spy novel has rarely been more relevant. Meet four writers who speak truth to power and lift the veil on the world of spies, spooks and secret services.
Terry Hayes’ second novel The Year of the Locust is an epic dive into the shadowy world of the CIA super spy. Ava Glass has been hailed as the new queen of spy fiction and her latest novel is the adrenaline filled The Trap. Mick Herron, creator of the wondrous Slow Horses, is the undisputed spymaster and one of the best novelists at work today. In Kim Sherwood ’s explosive A Spy Like Me, James Bond is missing, just when the country needs him most. Author and journalist Charlotte Philby is in control.
