The world-class, award-winning Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, now in its 17th year, will return to the magnificent Old Swan Hotel on 23-26 July 2020!
Curated by our expert Programming Committee which for this year is helmed by crime fiction titan Ian Rankin and celebrating the very best in crime fiction, the Festival is a firm date in the literary calendar and has achieved international acclaim for the programming, organisation and atmosphere.
With the 2020 festival fast approaching, we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming such incredible names as: crime fiction queen Martina Cole; the author of “one of the best twenty spy novels of all time” Mick Herron; the American crime author with books read across the world Lisa Gardner; the creator of the beloved Tom Thorne series Mark Billingham; Michael Connelly, the author who has sold over 74 million books; the impressive forensic anthropologist who just happens to be an award-winning crime novelist in her spare time Kathy Reichs; and Elly Griffiths, the accomplished author who chaired our Programming Committee back in 2017.
Bowled over? Remember, this is in addition to our fresh and exciting hand-picked panels who will be gracing the main stage over the 3-day weekend! With over 100 authors set to appear, you’re bound to find something you like.
