60 Messages of Hope Exhibition
To celebrate Harrogate International Festivals’ 60th anniversary, local artist Amelia Hawk created 60 Messages of Hope, a special participatory project bringing people together to create 60 flags marking 60 years of the Festival.
Taking place daily in the Spiegeltent, the project was completely free and open to everyone, while also working directly with local community and support organisations. Participants included Orb Community Arts, Harrogate Homeless Project, Mind in Harrogate, District of Sanctuary and Holding Space, each contributing their own creativity, experiences and messages of hope.
The resulting collection of 60 flags is a colourful and uplifting celebration of community, creativity and connection. Together, they reflect the many different voices that make up Harrogate and capture a moment in HIF’s 60th anniversary year.
The flags will be brought together in a free exhibition at the Crown Hotel during the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival.
