Step into the heat for a unique retelling of one of literature’s most enduring stories.

Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea follows Santiago, an ageing Cuban fisherman whose epic battle with a giant marlin becomes a powerful story of courage, endurance and the relationship between man and nature.

At Rudding Park Spa, the story takes on a whole new dimension through the growing art of Aufguss, an immersive form of sauna theatre combining heat, scent, music and performance.

Your one-hour experience begins with an introduction to the history of Aufguss and its rising popularity in the UK, before Rudding Park’s resident Aufguss Master, Jena, transports you into the world of The Old Man and the Sea with a captivating performance in the panoramic sauna.

After the heat, take the plunge with a guided cool-down in the Brass Monkey ice baths – the perfect end to this extraordinary literary and sensory experience.

A goody bag is also included to take home. Towels and robes are provided. Please bring swimwear.
