Sometimes it can feel like an effort walking to the shops. Shake up your mental energy, and grab life by the lapels, with this two course lunch in the company of Sir Chris Bonington. One of Britain’s greatest mountaineers, he promises to inspire with his daring climbs and adventures. Now an octogenarian, Sir Chris became a full-time expedition leader after the tragic death of his son. Taking on the world’s biggest challenges to get through his grief led him to the summit of Everest in 1985. It’s a role the mountains still hold after the death of his wife Wendy from motor neurone disease in 2012.

Sir Chris says, “For me, the mountains represent beauty, wildness and challenge. They’ve given me the joy of companionship and lifelong friendships to help me make the most of my eighties without the love of my life.”

Sir Chris will be interviewed by Julie Summers, author and historian.
