Gyles Brandreth may be an ex-MP, TV presenter and raconteur, but his son’s career has encompassed soldier, barrister, novelist, actor, comedian and he’s also an authority on Shakespeare. Benet talks about his debut novel, The Spy of Venice, which follows the young Shakespeare fleeing Stratford to seek his fortune. Clever, funny and engaging, the Renaissance man and self-confessed dilettante delivers a performance of Shakespearian heights.
