Redefining Who We Are – Past, Present and Pixelated
Who do we become when we strip away expectation?
Join Adam Farrer, Jenny Draper and Dr Alex Box as they explore the power, play, and performance of identity. From awkward teenage bedrooms to forgotten corners of history and digital dreamscapes, this event dives deep into how we shape who we are—and who we might yet be.
This is a night of transformation, where masculinity gets vulnerable, beauty becomes boundless, and history breaks free from kings, queens, and noble bloodlines. Three expert speakers deliver TED-style talks designed to challenge perceptions and change your life for the better. Showcasing the most stimulating ideas in arts, science, and history, each scintillating speaker has the challenge of engaging their audience within a 25-minute set, interspersed with intervals where you can chat, get a signed book from the speaker, or grab a drink at the bar.
Voted number six in the ‘Top 100 Things to do in the World’ by GQ magazine, Salon is a night out that will enlighten, entertain, excite your curiosity and change your life for the better.
JENNY DRAPER
Jenny Draper is a London tour guide who’s made it her mission to uncover the city’s quirks, secrets and forgotten stories. With a background in museums and heritage, she’s spent years studying the nooks and crannies that even lifelong Londoners miss. You might know her from TikTok or YouTube, where she shares bite-sized history with humour and fun facts. Jenny doesn’t tell history through the lens of kings and queens, instead, she brings it to life with quirky facts, forgotten voices and real people’s tales. Discover London through stories of underdogs, oddballs and trailblazers who helped shape the history of the City, from Peter the Wild Boy to The Rebecca Rioters, Chevalier D’Eon to Eleanor Rykener, these are not the stories you’ll find in your schoolbooks. “If you’re new to the city, I’m going to make you feel like one of the locals – if you’ve been here for a long time, I’m going to show you something you’ve never seen before” – Jenny Draper
ADAM FARRER
Adam Farrer is a writer, lecturer and editor whose latest book, Broken Biscuits and Other Male Failures, is a candid, funny and deeply personal look at what it means to be a man today, or at least, what it means for him. From doomed relationships and Prince obsessions to fears of combat and brushes with Satanic Panic, Adam’s stories explore the ways he’s tried (and often failed) to live up to masculine expectations. Get ready for an enlightening evening where he’ll share his take on identity, vulnerability and the strange, stumbling journey of figuring yourself out but somehow always missing the mark. “Adam writes like he knows me, the tiniest things he recalls uncover huge truths that resonate even now. I loved it.” – Justin Moorhouse
DR ALEX BOX
