Christie’s Enduring Allure

Sunday 25th July, 9:30amOld Swan Hotel, HarrogateTickets: £13Please note that all bookings are subject to a £1.75 transaction fee.BOOK NOW2020 was the centenary of Hercule Poirot’s first outing yet time has not diminished his creator’s appeal. In the most suitable of settings, we will discuss Agatha Christie’s legacy, the many adaptations and the countless homages.

Ragnar Jonasson’s first foray into publishing was translating Christie into his native Icelandic; Stuart Turton yearned to write a Christie-style mystery from the age of eight, doing so spectacularly with The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle; screenwriter Sarah Phelps has brilliantly adapted five Christie novels for the BBC; Ruth Ware is the queen of classic-meets-modern and regarded as Christie’s heir; Elly Griffiths will need all of her little grey cells as she helps explore these brilliant minds.
