Gigs at Gaia: Anthony Gray
Interstellar: From Sun to Stars
Join Yorkshire-based organist, conductor, and composer Anthony Gray for an evening of music that spans the cosmic and the contemplative. Currently Director of Music at St Wilfrid’s, Harrogate, and Artistic Director of the Halifax Choral Society, Gray brings his rich musical background from Cambridge, Leeds Cathedral, and Bradford Cathedral to this unique performance.
The programme opens with Bob Chilcott’s Sun Dance, full of rhythmic energy, before launching into Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar, with Gray’s interpretation transforming the cinematic score into an epic, immersive organ experience. Also featured are Pari Intervallo by Arvo Pärt and Le Banquet Céleste by Olivier Messiaen—works that showcase the organ’s capacity for stillness, beauty, and spiritual depth.
Expect a powerful evening of sound that moves between light and darkness, earth and stars.
The concert will last c.60 minutes with no interval.
