Grīṣhma; Indian Summer Soirée

Wednesday 1 July 2026
|
Duration: 2 hours
Spiegeltent, Crescent Gardens
Tickets £ 22.00 - £ 160.00
A musician sits cross‑legged on a patterned red carpet, playing a sitar. They wear a light grey embroidered kurta and patterned trousers, with a black backdrop behind them.

We invite everyone to a summer’s evening filled with Indian classical music by sitar duo Ayan Sengupta and Srijanee Banerjee accompanied by Ustad Shahbaz Hussain ‘Son of Lahore awardee’ on Tabla.

The sound of the tanpura drone sets the scene for the two renowned Indian music scholars to begin their sitar recital of seasonal Indian classical ragas associated with the pahars (times of day). Discover the beauty of ragas and talas, immerse yourself in the meditative power of Indian classical music, and let yourself unwind to this serene and evocative artform.

An evening of traditional Indian culture to leave your mind, body and soul fully recharged.

The recital will be preceded by a talk titled ‘Insights to Indian Classical Music’ with the three eminent musicians and chaired by Barsa Ray, published & listed author and Trustee at South Asian Arts-uk.

Seating for this event is unreserved. Booths include entry for 6 people to the event, includes a bottle of fizz, and guarantees your space for the evening.

All ticket holders can join Ayan, Srijanee and Shahbaz ji for a free pre-concert talk before the performance, please book your free ticket for the pre-concert talk here.
