Finding Peace in the Holy Land

Please note, this event has now taken place.

Sat 19 Oct | 6.30pm
The Crown Hotel, Harrogate

Lauren Booth has had a taste of celebrity: in the 1990s, as ‘Tony Blair’s sister-in-law’, Lauren wrote for The New Statesman and The Mail on Sunday, even appearing on I’m A Celebrity…! Yet, even as an infrequent churchgoer, she was drawn to the Holy Land too. She was a vocal opponent of the Iraq War, speaking at rallies against the invasion. Given the chance to visit Palestine, she was astounded by the hospitality she found and became embroiled in the people’s struggle.

Lauren converted to Islam in 2010 after visiting the shrine of Fatima al-Masumeh in the city of Qom and feeling “a shot of spiritual morphine, just absolute bliss and joy.”

Join Lauren as she discusses finding faith, love and generosity in one of the world’s most hostile war zones.
