Installation Soundtrack

To further enhance your experience of the installation, a reflective piece of music ‘A Moment in Time’ has been commissioned by Bristol Old Vic and can be played by clicking ‘play’ below. In recognition of use of this music as part of the installation in Harrogate, Harrogate International Festivals will donate £200 to the Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity.

Luke Jerram’s ceremonial art installation has been created as a memorial to those we have lost in the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Memoriam is a temporary memorial for the public to visit and remember all those we have lost in this crisis. The artwork is also made in tribute to all the NHS staff members and volunteers and is a space for reflection, remembrance and recognition.

The flags are created from NHS bed sheets and arranged in the form of a medical logo, referencing those people who have been in hospital and care homes during this crisis. The artwork allows the public to enter, contemplate and explore whilst adhering to social distancing.

Luke Jerram is an artist renowned worldwide for his large-scale public engagement artworks. His multidisciplinary practice involves the creation of sculptures, installations, and live arts projects.

‘In Memoriam by Luke Jerram commissioned by the Weston Arts + Health Weekender. Supported by Without Walls and FESTIVAL.ORG. Informed by the Wellcome Trust-funded ‘Weather Lives’ project, led by Dr Cassie Phoenix at Durham University.’
