About

Our HIF+ outreach and education programme offers you the opportunity to engage with top class professionals, published authors and passionate musicians, if you’ve ever wanted to try something new, get involved or learn more about the arts then HIF+ is the place for you.

Situated throughout Harrogate are several Community Libraries to encourage you to pick up a book and start reading. Pop along to choose a book, and remember to leave one you’ve already read in return. Community Libraries are currently in place at The Festival Office, Raworths Solicitors and The Cold Bath Brewery.

Are you a book worm or simply an occasional reader? Visit our You’re Booked site and join in literary conversations, find your next read and hear from the world’s best authors all without having to travel a single footstep.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the book you’re reading? Need a push to start and finish a book? Want to discuss why it ended the way it did and how you feel about that dastardly character? Well the Big Read, our giant book club gives you just that. Click here for more information.

Are you ages 7-25, love music and literature and want to try out events for free…? Then Library of Live is the thing for you.

Musical Mums is a highly successful initiative working with young parents and their children in Harrogate. The project, which has run for 14 years, provides weekly music-making sessions in which mothers can both bond with their child and meet other parents their age. Find out more here.

Taking music to the villages. Global Villages is a series of free half-term workshops in the villages surrounding Harrogate for children aged 8 to 13. Get involved here!

We are passionate about encouraging children to read and write – a child who writes may become an adult who writes and the next big thing in publishing. Our Big Write worked with over 600 children in 2018 bringing the joy of words, imagination and writing to the district. See how your school can get involved here.
