Harrogate International Festivals starts New Year in style, thanks to Berwins Solicitors
Harrogate International festivals has started 2023 in fine form, thanks to Berwins Solicitors announcing its continued title sponsorship of Salon North for another season.
The series of entertaining and fascinating speaker-events – curated and produced by the arts charity – will make its return in February, with the first of six not-to-be-missed TED-style talks.
At each Salon, dubbed as the go-to ‘night out’ for the post-clubbing generation, three speakers delve deep into their area of expertise, enriching the intellectual lives of their audience with incisive treatments of various subjects.
Previous speakers taking to the Berwins Salon North stage include former Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, zoologist and professor of zoology Matthew Cobb, behaviour and data scientist Dr Pragya Agarwal, the world’s first forensic jeweller Marie Maclennan, founder of the Insights Festival Gill Attrill OBE, and BBC Radio 4 comedian and writer Wil Hodgson.
The three confirmed for the first Berwins Salon North of 2023, taking place on Thursday 9 February, are professor of circadian neuroscience Russell Foster, fashion psychology expert Dion Terrelonge, and geneticist and science populariser Adam Rutherford.

“Without the financial backing of Berwins Solicitors, we simply wouldn’t be able to stage these wonderfully challenging and fun talks, which have been listed in ‘The Top 100 Things to do in the World’ by GQ magazine.
“Producing these evenings featuring such incredible speakers helps us reinforce the cultural prestige of Harrogate, and without Berwins Salon North the town would be the poorer.
“We absolutely love producing these evenings, and will be announcing our first three guests to the Berwins Salon North 2023 stage shortly. And, as usual, these evenings will all take place at our Crown Hotel home.”
