Harrogate International Festivals

Press Office

Welcome to the Harrogate International Festivals Press Office

We can help arrange interviews with any of our speakers and performers, discuss on site photography and filming, and arrange Festival promotions and competitions.

Absolutely – we welcome reporters and reviewers to all of our Festivals. Our press passes, which allow access to the Festival site and facilities, are allocated on a first come, first served basis and are strictly limited to one pass per publication. If more passes are required please note this and the reason in your accreditation application. Please click here to submit your request for press accreditation and ticket request.

Press tickets are strictly limited – due to the high volume of requests we receive, it’s helpful to know how you plan to cover the Festivals and events you hope to attend.

All applications are subject to ticket availability and Press Office approval. The Press Office will be in touch to confirm whether your application has been successful.

All requests to interview speakers, performers and staff in advance of Harrogate International Festivals should be arranged through the Press Office. We will do everything we can to arrange your interview, and offer advice on suitable alternatives as necessary.

We have a library of high resolution images of our Festival participants. We also have an extensive library of past Festival images to give a flavour of the Festival atmosphere. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will send you through download links for the best images.

Professional photographers are welcome at all of our events, but pass numbers are strictly limited and must be arranged with the press office in advance of the relevant Festival.

All on-site filming will need to be agreed with both the Press Office and participants in advance of the Festival. We look at all filming on a case-by-case basis, so please contact us and we will do everything we can to facilitate your request.

Below is an overview of the Festivals activity throughout 2020 including links to press releases and relevant imagery as and when these become available. For further information please contact the press office at press@harrogate-festival.org.uk.

Berwins Salon North

Berwins Salon North is one of Harrogate’s most sought after tickets after the Salon was voted as number six in the ‘Top 100 Things to do in the World’ by GQ magazine. Hosted by Harrogate International Festivals, the series consists of a cabaret-style night of the most stimulating ideas in art, science and psychology designed to change your life for the better.

With three expert speakers, each given thirty minutes to engage the audience with their subject, talks are interspersed with intervals allowing time to visit the bar. A revolutionary movement for the heart and mind!

Harrogate Music Festival

Our 2019 Harrogate Music Festival saw the Hallé Orchestra return to Harrogate, bringing the quality and excitement they did under the baton of Sir Barbirolli, however, this time they were accompanied by a new man in town. Casino Royale in Concert opened the season with Bond on the big screen supported by the full force of the Hallé. From the Leeds International Piano Competition winner Eric Lu, to the youngest ever joint winner of the Junior 1st Prize at the Menuhin Competition in 2018, Christian Li, travelling all the way from Australia, this summer we really did ‘welcome the world’.

Christian was joined on the Young Musicians platform by the Solem String Quartet, BBC Young Musician Finalist Rob Burton, and Leeds International Piano Competition Third Prize Winner Xinyuan Wang.

One of our summer favourites returned as Oddsocks offered a fresh take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, whilst the Concert by Candlelight with the Gesualdo Six was presented with a twist under the Museum of the Moon installation. Our orchestral finale featured the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic with a past Young Musician in Julian Bliss performing Mozart’s farewell to instrumental music.

Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival

Chosen by Harper’s Bazaar as ‘One of the UK’s best Literary Festivals’, the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival returns with an online Festival this October.

Eyes of book lovers across the world will once again be upon Harrogate, as Harrogate International Festivals bring a host of best-selling authors, well known faces and fascinating speakers, to join this star-studded lined up.

Harrogate International Sunday Series

The Harrogate International Sunday Series is our season of coffee concerts, resident at the Old Swan Hotel and boasting an international line-up of world-class chamber musicians.

The summer of 2019 saw the Royal Hall transform into Harrogate’s very own version of the Spiegeltent for one weekend only. We relived the iconic days of the Hacienda with the legend that is Graeme Park, we strutted our stuff with the Gypsy Queens and we let our fabulous side run wild as the House of Burlesque dancers returned to party all night long at our Silent Disco.

Our HIF+ outreach and education programme offers you the opportunity to engage with top class professionals, published authors and passionate musicians, if you’ve ever wanted to try something new, get involved or learn more about the arts then HIF+ is the place for you.
