in association with Ashville College

The Big Write: in association with Ashville College, returned for it’s 5th year in 2019 on Monday 20th May.

The Big Write is an invaluable opportunity for children in Years 4 & 5 across the District to participate in a free to access dedicated writing workshop which aims to inspire children with a love of words. In 2019, 738 children from 19 Primary schools from across the District attended the Big Write in the glittering Royal Hall.

We were joined on the day by the fantastic children’s author Kate Pankhurst, author of the Fantastically Great Women Who… series. As our Big Write author, Kate worked closely with our Education Partner Pobble to create a fun and engaging literary session based on her popular books. By working with a published author and moulding the lessons to an exciting theme the Big Write sparks imaginations, creates stories and enables the children to take their ideas and writing skills to the next level. And, best of all it was completely free of charge to all who attended.

This ambitious creative writing workshop is a sure fire way to inspire any child, engaging young minds and giving children a platform to share their writing.
