Please find some frequently asked questions about the cancellation of the HIF 2020 Summer Season below.

The Covid-19 outbreak has had major global impacts and created many uncertainties about the immediate future. These uncertainties include the ability for artists to travel and for audiences to gather together in venues. At this point in time, it is not possible for the Summer Season to proceed.

This difficult decision was made after carefully assessing several factors, but most importantly the health and safety of everyone involved: our audience, artists, suppliers, partners, volunteers, staff and the wider community.

Please consider donating to the work of Harrogate International Festivals here.

Donations to the Festival will support our arts charity in a year where we are not able to make ticket revenue. There are many core costs associated with running a festival which include but are not limited to staff salaries, office and building costs, supplier fees, planning for future programmes and costs relating to our year-round work with schools, young people, communities and artists.

If you have already booked tickets, instead of asking for a full refund you could donate some of this cost instead.

We know your primary concern will be your booking and that the cancellation of our Festivals will be disruptive and disappointing for you. We ask you for your support and patience and ask you not to contact the office or team directly at this time as we are currently working remotely.

Our team, now reduced to three working staff members will endeavour to contact ticket booker directly in order to speak with you about the options for your booking.

There are a number of options for how you might choose for us process your booking moving forward, you may consider transferring your booking to 2021, or donating a portion of your ticket value to HIF, rather than requesting a full refund. As a charity, your support is crucial to our survival and we would as you to consider the options above as you wait for us to contact you. We recognise that this time of uncertainty affects everybody differently, but if you are in a position to help us remain a vital part of the community, we would be enormously grateful.

Becoming a Friend of the Festivals is another way of supporting Harrogate International Festivals.

Although our Summer Season will not be going ahead our Friends of the Festivals memberships last for 12 months and cover all the Festivals in our programme of events.

Friends memberships are non refundable as Gift Aid is claimed on these on a monthly basis. We do hope that you will take advantage of the benefits later in the year and thank you for your support.

We ask you for your support and patience and ask you not to contact the office or team directly at this time if your query is about your booking as we are currently working remotely. We have put together our FAQ’s and do hope that this may answer some of your more immediate questions.

Our team, now reduced to three working staff members will endeavour to contact each booker directly in order to speak with you about the options for your booking.

If your query is not referring to a booking please contact info@harrogate-festival.org.uk

Planning for the 2021 Festival is continuing as normal and we will announce the upcoming launch dates in due course.
